Project 1794
Between 1958 and 1961, the US government worked on building the Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar, a disk-shaped aircraft that would maneuver via exhaust thrust from an engine that formed the entire circumference of the craft. Essentially, the Air Force built a poorly operated flying saucer.
