Turns Out Those Easter Island Heads Have Entire Bodies Hidden Underground

The team found etched petroglyphs on the backs of the figures.

The petroglyphs they found were representative of Polynesian canoes. Most likely, the etchings were a means for the carver to sign their work, as it’s likely the canoes were a symbol of a carver’s individual family.
