The detective said that Terry was a “perfect candidate for identity theft” for Linda’s ex-husband. None of those who helped Richard obtaining Terry’s birth certificate ever realized that they were helping a criminal. After receiving the birth certificate, Richard was able to get his driving license in Alabama and later in Florida. Richard had been pretending to be someone else for over two decades until Terry’s real-life nephew researched his family’s history on ancestry.com and became suspicious.
