The high demand for clothes means that large quantities of clothing items need to be produced as cheaply as possible. Therefore, these clothing items need to be made abroad, leading to companies taking part in unethical practices. One of them is employing underage workers. To make matters worse, many countries don’t have laws to protect their children.

Julia’s actions attempt to help slow the demand for those products and the need for cheap labor. This may be her main reason for doing the challenge, but another important reason exists.
