Olowokandi didn’t start playing organized basketball until he was 18, recruiting himself to Pacific University at the age of 20. Three years later, he was the Big West Player of the Year, averaging 22.2 points on 60.9 percent shooting to go with 11.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game.
