Unlike the others on this list, sled dog racing wasn’t an official sport, but a demonstration sport in Lake Placid in 1932. Demonstration sports are sometimes introduced as a way to gauge interest and transition them into Olympic events. Sled dog racing appeared as a demonstration sport twice more, in Oslo and Lillehammer, but it never went on to official event status.
