The Barristan Selmy of “Game of Thrones” is bored by politics who ultimately dies in a swordfight the Sons of the Harpy. The Barristan Selmy of “A Song of Ice and Fire” is basically the best swordfighter in the universe, and thus far has yet to meet his match. He also plays a dangerous game of politics, spying on Daenerys to make sure she hasn’t inherited her father’s (ahem) eccentricities before revealing himself to her and warning her than Jorah Mormont is also a spy.
