The Original Reek
Ah, Reek. The bar is set high for disturbing fates in “Game of Thrones,” and yet Theon Greyjoy’s excessive, mind-melting torture is certainly a strong contender for the nastiest thing that any of these characters have to endure. That said, Greyjoy was not the original Reek – two characters use that name before him. In the books, when storming Winterfell Greyjoy comes across a disgusting man named Reek, who claims to be a friend of Ramsay Snow. Greyjoy frees Reek on the condition that he bring Snow and reinforcements, but it is revealed that this Reek was actually Snow in disguise all along. Apparently Snow used to have a friend called Reek who joined him in doing some pretty awful things, but who was later killed in his place, so Snow assumed his identity. This is yet more tricky identity switching that probably wouldn’t play well on TV.
