Abe Vigoda – Salvatore Valestra, Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm

In the ’90s, Abe Vigoda went full Leslie Nielsen, giving us self-effacing deadpan comedy turns in Good Burger and even Late Night With Conan O’Brien. But hidden in these works was a return to his dramatic roots. Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, a big-screen adaptation of TAS, features Vigoda as vicious criminal Salvatore Valestra, and we hear pure conniving evil throughout his portrayal. However, at the risk of spoiling the film, Valestra gets his just desserts, and Vigoda is willing to go low-status with just as much aplomb.
