Hallsands is a good reminder that fucking with the ocean comes with real consequences. The area is known to have been inhabited since at least 1506, but in the 1890s some dumbasses began dredging in Hallsands in order to supply sand and gravel to build a nearby dockyard. By 1900, the beach level predictably had fallen significantly, and that fall the sea wall washed away. The original village was finally abandoned completely in 1917.
