Allerheiligen Monastery, Germany
This monastery located deep in Germany’s Black Forest was built in 1192 in what was assumed to be a peaceful and monastic location. In the following years, however, it was struck by lightning three times, each resulting in catastrophic fires. Accordingly, the place was abandoned to the whims of the forest and presumably has become the stuff of fairy tales.
