<p>There has been a fire burning in the coal mines underneath Centralia since 1962. 1962! It continues to burn today, because humans are parasitic trash etc etc. The crazy part is that although most sane inhabitants left back when the town caught on fire, a few have chosen to remain on their homesteads. The American government seized the land by eminent domain in 1992, but gave the remaining residents permission to live out their hellish lives in Centralia.</p>
