The Iranian Hostage Crisis (1979)
As part of the turbulence of the 1979 Iranian revolution, on Nov. 4, staff at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran were taken hostage before being paraded through the streets. Images of these hostages became America’s primary point of reference on the revolution, and to this day, these photos are what is best remembered in the West about the entire affair.
