Lofton earned his fourth Gold Glove in 1996, and this catch to take a dinger away from B.J. Surhoff had to have stuck in voters’ minds. He recalled in 2016: “I always ran hard and went after balls at the wall, because you never know. You can’t catch it if you’re not up there. … I looked up and I reached and I’m like, ‘Oh, the ball is right there.’ So I just reached back and caught it.”
