In an eight-team league, the Pistons were fourth in offensive rating and fifth in defensive rating, finding their way to the Finals following a 37-35 season, the best mark in a weak Western Division. They were led in scoring and rebounding by future Hall of Famer George Yardley (pictured, following the team’s move to Detroit in 1957-58) with 17.4 points and 9.7 boards per contest.
