Eckankar
The Eckankar Cult was founded by Paul Twichell in 1965 in Minnesota. Followers believed that humans could feel the light and sound of God by separating their souls from their bodies. But it was later discovered that Twichell had made everything up or plagiarized all of the spiritual material from other religions. Oh, and the founder just so happens to be the CEO of the company that sells the religious materials, too.
