Founded by Jimmie T. Roberts in 1971, The Brethren was a cult that prepared for the apocalypse by detoxing and getting rid of comforts and conveniences. Followers were not allowed to play, be happy, or celebrate anything because they believed that should only happen once their savior has returned.
